THE Blackdown Community Choir (pictured) attended the last session of term in an extra item of clothing – a hat.
Earlier in the term a choir member lost her life to a brain tumour and the choir felt it was appropriate to join with others on Wear a Hat Day to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
Members raised more than £100 for the charity and hope it will go towards finding ways to help people diagnosed with this disease.
They thoroughly enjoyed an evening of singing the songs learnt this year.
Members are joining many choirs from the West who are going to Sing For Water in Bath in July. They will have to learn the songs by heart and then perform them in one mass choir in the beautiful setting of The Crescent.
Family and friends will sponsor them and it is hoped to raise a lot of money for Water Aid.
Anyone interested in joining this challenge is welcome to go along when rehearsals begin tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm at the Baptist Centre, South Street, Wellington. The taster session costs £5.
