WELLINGTON Town Council agreed to the following grant applications at its latest meeting:
Skintight Samba Band – £500 towards the cost of running workshops aimed at recruiting new members.
Read Ready – £1,500 towards helping adults who struggle to read improve their ability to do so. Its prime aim is to get adults with a reading age of five and take them to a reading age of about 11.
Superact – £1,000 towards its Wellbeing Creative Sessions, to enrich the lives of vulnerable Wellington people marginalised because of age and learning and communication difficulties.
St John’s Community Support Group – £500 for help with running costs of this newly formed group.
Life Education Wessex – £590 towards its work in providing health, well-being and drug prevention education to about 219 children at Rockwell Green Primary School when it visits them in June.
Wellington Silver Band – £750 towards its popular free event held in Wellington Park – in the past the venue has been available free of charge.
