DRIVERS and commuters faced Monday misery as snow and icy conditions made roads treacherous in Wellington and surrounding areas.
The snow came down on Saturday night and with not much traffic on Sunday it was Monday morning which brought the main chaos.
Drivers trying to get to work in Wellington early on Monday faced long queues which built up from the A38 and motorway.
Some drivers were taking an hour to get from Chelston to the town while it was almost as difficult getting out of Wellington.
It was described as the mini Beast from the East but, in fact, more snow fell over the weekend than it did earlier in the month.
But unlike then, stores and shops were open for business, although many schools were closed.
The icy conditions made it difficult for pedestrians with a number of tumbles being recorded, including two in almost as many minutes at the entrance to Lancer Court in Wellington.
But as quickly as the snow came, it began to disappear rapidly from the roads on Monday despite icy winds.
Some localised flooding included Bradford-on-Tone which was particularly affected not far from the White Horse pub.
