SOMERSET Sight, an independent charity which supports blind and visually impaired people, is seeking volunteers in the Wellington area.

The charity provides volunteers to visit people in their own homes to provide help with correspondence, making and accessing appointments and regular companionship. Many people also like to go out for a cup of tea or coffee for a change of scenery or even take an accompanied local walk.

A spokeswoman said: “We are now urgently looking for new volunteers to visit people in Wellington. If you can spare a couple of hours once a fortnight, enjoy helping others and meeting people on a one to one basis, please consider joining our team of visitors.”
