THE magic of steam, water and Victorian innovation will be on display at Coldharbour Mill when it hosts one of its popular steam days on Bank Holiday Monday (May 29).
The mill, on the banks of the River Culm, offers an interactive and hands-on opportunity for all the family to see how wool and textiles have been made in Uffculme since 1797.
Visitors will be able to discover how steam revolutionised yarn and cloth production, and join the steam team as they stoke the boilers and run the engines used daily until the 1970s to power the steam.
Youngsters can enjoy a children’s trail and the popular Flotsam the Fool’s circus workshop will be teaching unique circus skills. And ‘The Culm’ will be at the Mill playing acoustic tunes in the mill yard throughout the day.
Light refreshments will be available in the cafe and the mill shop will have a yarns and textiles produced at the mill for sale.
Coldharbour Mill is near Willand, a few minutes’ drive from Junction 27 of the M5
