THE start of the new school year has an effect on Wellington Library we perhaps don’t think about.

The number of children attending the library’s Storytime drops for a while as the older ones start education and some of the volunteer mums find they can return to employment.

So for the moment at least some places are available for the Storytime group. The group meets on Wednesdays from 11am-11.30am. If you are interested in your child joining the group, or in volunteering, contact the library staff.

The library would also be interested in hearing from anyone who might like to volunteer with the younger age group Baby Boogie, which meets at the same time on Fridays.

Next month the friends group has a talk on the work of a props provider, turning the notes of Shakespeare and other playwrights – he grabbed the ceremonial sword off the table – into actual objects. This is on Thursday, November 16.

Library staff in Wellington are on a hunt for empty DVD cases, the standard 19 x 14cm ones. At present their intended use has not been revealed to your correspondent but if you can help please take any cases to the library for the attention of library assistant Linda Coleman.
