THE South-West is the most stressful place to work in the UK, according to a new survey of more than 1,000 health and safety representatives.

The TUC’s biennial survey of reps reveals 81% of South-West respondents – more than any other region – said stress was the biggest concern for their members. Nationally the figure for stress was 70%.

Second on the South-West list of concerns was bullying and harassment (51%), then overwork (43%) with display screen equipment and violence tied with 30%.

Back strains also stood out among hotel workers’ reps with 74% of them putting it in their top five.
