THE achievements of students at Kingsmead School in Wiveliscombe during the previous academic year have been celebrated at its annual presentation evening.

Students, parents, staff and governors attended the event and awards were presented for academic subject and sport accomplishments.

Headteacher and Leader of Student Support Commendations were also awarded together with the following school trophies:

Ella Keirle – The Peter Mullan Rotary Cup for Excellent Progress in the Enrichment Centre.

Abigail Edmondston-Low – The George Heath Memorial Trophy for Excellent Progress in Music.

Jago Yelland – winning two trophies, The Wiveliscombe Book Group Awards for Endeavour and History.

Daniel Barrowman – The Emma Harris Award for Reading.

Eloise Rowe – The 10 Radio Award.

Hanna Jarvis and Thomas Stephens – The Paul Cups for outstanding all-round contribution to school sport.

Thomas Heal – The Whitehouse Cup for achieving success at the highest level in sport.

Guests were treated to two musical interludes during the evening. An instrumental of ‘Fish n’ Chips’ was performed by Scott Fudge and Jago Yelland on saxophone, accompanied by Niklas Silaste on drums. This was followed by Abigail Edmondston-Low and Jess Fitt, who sang the song ‘Shallow’ from ‘A Star is Born’, accompanied by Scott Fudge on piano.

The school was pleased to welcome special guest and past student Richard Canterbury to the proceedings, who shared with the audience his journey from his school days at Kingsmead to the present day, where he is chief executive of Love Taste Company.
