THE cast and crew of Kingsmead School’s The Crucible excelled themselves in three evening shows.

The play, by Arthur Miller, told the story of the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts during the 1600s.

In a change this year most of the play was performed not on a raised staging area but at ground level with the audience seated around in a semi-circle, which helped to give a closer connection between the actors and audience.

A spokesperson for the school in Wiveliscombe said: “Students from Years 7 to 10 were involved in every aspect of the play as actors, back stage crew and technicians, and are to be congratulated for all their hard work and commitment.

“They did themselves proud presenting a powerful play, impressing audiences with their character portrayals and with the large volume of dialogue acted out.”
