GRANTS are available from the Oake Sunshine Fund – but any groups which want to apply need to get a move on.

The grants are for projects, groups and activities that benefit the residents of the parish of Oake, including the hamlets of Heathfield, Hillcommon, Hillfarrance and Oake.

The first grant from the fund, set up following the New Rendy Solar Farm development, was awarded to Oake & District Village Hall and Recreation Ground.

The hall received a £2,000 donation to refurbish its popular children’s play area.

The next deadline for applications is Friday (April 21) with average grants expected of about £1,000 each.

Community and voluntary organisations, registered charities and social enterprises can apply but grants are not available to individuals.

The Oake Sunshine Fund is administered by Somerset Community Foundation in consultation with Oake Parish Council.
