SURF-MAD teenager Charlie West, a Year 10 Court Fields School, Wellington, student, has set up his own surf clothing line – B.T.B. (Beyond the Barrel).

Charlie decided to create a brand that could be worn by a wide range of ages with a name linked to one of the waves all surfers love to ride – The Barrel.

He spent time researching names, designs, logos and costings, and his T-shirts and hoodies have been acquired by several surf outlets and surfboard shapers such as House Of Cr8ation in Cornwall. They can also be viewed at the Mad Dog clothing store in South Street, Wellington.

Charlie’s father is Huw Weston, who organises the Welliestock music festival in the town and is keyboard player with FILTA. Clothing is available direct from B.T.B. Beyond The Barrel via its Facebook page.

The ambition is to promote the brand within the surfing community and to those who want to wear a fresh brand they can say they helped grow and develop.
