EAGER volunteers wait to serve garden visitors with cream teas after visiting the garden at Burges Meadow, near Wiveliscombe, on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.

The garden was open to raise funds for SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity – and 160 people enjoyed a sunny afternoon and a wander around the two-acre garden, including ponds, stream and flowering shrubs and trees.

Almost £1,200 was raised for the charity which goes towards welfare work within Somerset for people who are serving or have served in the armed forces and their families.

Garden owners Pauline and Bob Homeshaw said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome friends and newcomers to our garden, to share our passion with them and to raise funds for such a great charity.

“Thanks to everyone for supporting us.”
