WIVELISCOMBE Tennis Club will be able to buy new equipment thanks to an early Christmas present from a housebuilder.
Members of the club are celebrating after receiving a £750 donation from Persimmon Homes South West, which is building nearby.
The gift comes as part of Persimmon’s Healthy Communities scheme, which donates £22,500 to UK sport every month.
Club welfare officer Maggie Andrews said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous donation. We currently have 120 members, including 40 juniors.
“We are working to increase our junior membership and we’re particularly keen to encourage children aged five and upwards to pick up a racquet and play tennis for the first time.
“This money will help pay for junior racquets, balls and mini tennis nets.”
