Somerset's Lord Lieutenant has paid a visit to Wellington to enjoy a display of its rich heritage.

Lord Lieutenant Mohammed Saddiq, was joined by his deputy, Clinton Rogers, and Cllr Andrew Govier in a visit to Tone Dale House on Thursday, September 28.

The Grade II listed 19th century house was built by Thomas Fox, boss of Fox Brothers textile manufacturing, to serve as a fine country home by his Wellington Mill.

Today the home contains a number of artefacts which tell the history of the Fox family, and the town's once formidable milling industry.

Ben Fox, who now manages the property as a guest house, said it was a "great honour" to receive the Lord Lieutenant and his party, who enjoyed a display of memorabilia, coffee and Duchy biscuits.
