HALSE Fair was scaled back due to forecasted bad weather but a successful mini version of the event was held in the village hall.

Visitors to a packed hall enjoyed the tombola, lucky sweet dip and raffle, along with bargains on the bric-a-brac, book and DVD, and clothing stalls. Villagers baked home-made cakes for the afternoon teas.

A spokesperson for the event said: “The committee would like to thank numerous companies which donated raffle prizes, along with all volunteers who helped make the fair such a success.

“Lastly, a huge thank you to everyone who supported our event, we look forward to seeing you next year, hopefully on the field!”

The move inside meant there was no dog show, pony rides, bouncy castle or children’s entertainer this year.

More than £1,000 was raised for the village church and village hall.
