WELLINGTON Theatre Company is looking for help choosing its production for next year and is staging two play readings to help fans of theatre decide.
The choice is between Bouncers and Shakers by John Godber – two stand-alone plays which would be performed together – and Play On! by Rick Abbott.
Bouncers tells the tale of a night in a Yorkshire disco in the 1980s in an outrageous parody of Saturday Night Fever. Shakers gives a wickedly funny glimpse of a trendy cocktail bar and its clientele seen through the eyes of four long-suffering waitresses.
Play On! concerns a community theatre that is about to produce a new murder mystery play which shares the title of an Agatha Christie novel but not the plot!
Excerpts from all the plays will be read at Wellington Arts Centre tomorrow (Thursday, July 18) and Tuesday, July 30, at from 7pm.
