JUDGES praised the high quality of the ploughing when Wellington Monument Ploughing Society held its annual match at Hornshay Farm, Nynehead.

Some 65 ploughs were in action on the field, including two horse ploughing teams, a fine display of vintage tractors – mostly pre-1960 – and more modern tractors split between eight classes.

Secretary Peter Hill thanked Robin and Carol Darby for providing a wonderful site with far-reaching views of Wellington and the Blackdown Hills.

He also thanked all the businesses and individuals who supported the match.
