THREE men have appeared in court following a robbery at Rockwell Green Post Office and Stores on Thursday, June 1.
Brett Spiller, 27, Dean Spiller 36, both of Markesbury Road, Bedminster, and James Briggs, 42, of no fixed abode, were remanded in custody by Bath and Wansdyke Magistrates the following day.
All three will appear jointly at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, June 30, charged with robbery, an indictable offence.
The post office and stores at Rockwell Green, opposite the Barley Mow, has been run for 15 years by Mr and Mrs Haran Niranjan, originally from Sri Lanka.
Mr Niranjan’s wife Meera was in the store on her own at the time of the robbery.
She said: “I would like to thank the police – they were really good. Everyone, in fact, has been so helpful.”
Mr Niranjan learned of the robbery while he was in Wellington.
“My wife phoned me to tell me,” he said. “It’s the first time something like this has happened to us.”
Because the three men have been charged, the WWN cannot go into any more detail about the incident.
