WAITROSE has given polymyalgia+GCA, a charity which supports people with polymyalgia rheumatic and giant cell arthritis, a cash boost.
Sue Newberry asked the supermarket’s Wellington branch if it would consider her charity for a donation from its monthly green token scheme. It agreed to help and the charity received a cheque for £338 to help fund support group meetings in the South-West.
Sue said: “We meet on the first Tuesday of every month – our next meeting is at 11 am at the Harvester in Taunton. We all have the opportunity to share our experiences and support each other in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The meeting in May is at 2pm at Taunton Vale Sports Club when we are very fortunate that Samy Zagout MRCP MD, a consultant rheumatologist and PMR expert, has agreed to come and join us and impart his specialist knowledge.”
Anyone who would like to know more can email [email protected] or phone 0300 999 509 and leave a message with a telephone number to enable a call back.
Sue says she strongly believes that for people newly diagnosed with PMR and GCA the group can be a lifeline.
