WELLINGTON Town Council has agreed to help fund a co-ordinator who will be aiming to help local families and cut crime.
The council decided to contribute £8,600 annually for two years to Taunton Deane Borough Council towards the three-day-a-week position which will be the responsibility of the local strategic partnership.
The town council will receive regular updates and reports to ensure that the areas it identifies as needing attention are being focused upon.
The co-ordinator will work closely with the police, social services, the health and voluntary sectors, aiming to deliver improved services for the family and local area as well as cost savings to the public sector purse.
The appointment will focus on reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime as well as improvements to health and well-being, improving educational attendance and attainment, and improving access to training and employment.
