WIVELISCOMBE Area Partnership (WAP) will be the lead partner in the community library partnership aiming to save the town library.
The library was one of 15 across Somerset threatened with closure due to Somerset County Council budget cuts. Thirteen have now appointed community library partnerships which will negotiate with the county council to remain open.
Marian Mann, chairman of Wiveliscombe Town Council’s library working group, said the WAP charity had a record of addressing rural issues.
She added: “Councillors are very pleased that a solution has been found for the way forward and we can start the New Year with a bright-looking future for the library.”
