WELLINGTON’S annual street fair is set to be even bigger and better this year.
Wellington Carnival Committee’s new team, elected at the annual meeting in March, have been working hard to prepare for the event, one of the town’s highlights of the year.
New street fair secretary Jo Alway has seen a record number of bookings with 80 stalls confirmed – and a waiting of list of at least another 20 – for the event on Sunday, June 2, which will fill High Street and South Street.
The event runs from 10am until 5pm and is the main fundraiser for Wellington Carnival Committee.
High Street and South Street will be closed to traffic from 6am-6pm with diversions in place.
Wellington Carnival Committee chairwoman Sharon Collins said: “We are now actively looking for our 2019 Royal Family – competition forms will be available on the day, with the opportunity of the winner’s school receiving £100 towards equipment for their school.
“We are extremely grateful to all the local groups, musicians and traders who will be supporting us throughout the day with performances outside the old post office, Rule7 and at The Green Dragon in South Street.
At a recent committee meeting Nancy Powell-Brace from Odette’s tea room in High Street, Wellington, presented the committee with a donation of £785 which she raised to support the carnival through a Christmas at the Wellesley evening.
Wellington Carnival is very grateful for the donation which will help towards putting on this year’s annual carnival on Saturday, September 28. Anyone who would like to contact the committee can do so by emailing Wellington
