KEEN photographer John Harmsworth brought in these photos after spotting Colin Spackman’s article about a Bishop Brothers lamp-post in the WWN (March 6).
John, of Monument Close, Wellington, entered the pictures in a competition in a four-on-a-theme class – his was ‘posts’.
The photos were taken in 1980 of a post on the corner of Eight Acre Lane, by the mini-roundabout. “It was a great shame it had to be replaced,” John said.
The pictures show John’s daughter Angela, who was ten or 11 at the time – she now lives in Trowbridge in Wiltshire.
John, now 80, says he has been interested in photography for 70 years.
