BREXIT and President Trump inspired some of the entries in the ‘Guy’ competition when Wiveliscombe War Memorial Recreation Ground held its annual fireworks display.

Organisers said the attendance was excellent on a dry night, despite concerns about moving the start time earlier, and the crowds enjoyed an impressive, colourful display.

Entries were up in the ‘Guy’ competition with 21 presented for judging by chairman of trustees Dr John Rees.

The management committee was supported by the four sports clubs at the event on Friday evening, and it would also like to thank members of the public for manning the gate and setting off the fireworks, and local businesses for donations and raffle prizes.

Fireworks Night is the main fundraising event for the Rec and a good profit will be used for its maintenance over the next 12 months.
