Dwelling on past glory as a prize-winning author, Ryota wastes the money he makes as a private detective on gambling and can barely pay child support.
His ageing mother, on the death of his father, and beautiful ex-wife seem to be moving on with their lives.
Ryota attempts to rekindle his relationships with his estranged wife and son when they are holed-up in his mother’s house when a typhoon strikes.
The film, in Japanese with English subtitles and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, is being screened on Sunday, January 21, at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm). Guest membership is £5 for the film and £12.50 for four films from January-April.
