THE Covid-19 vaccination roll-out for the Wellington area starts again at the Cottage Hospital today (Friday), writes Barry Knott.
Jabs for the over-80s and the most vulnerable began on Friday, January 15, with 12-hour sessions which eventually led to the over-70s being included.
Vaccinations paused on January 26 for more supplies to become available while, in the meantime, other local residents were vaccinated at Taunton Racehorse.
The programme has been widely praised by those who have had the jab with nurses and volunteers cheerful and helpful despite the bad weather.

Good tidings for local firms as they are shortlisted in Somerset Business Awards 2026The hospital is ideally placed in the town centre and a heated tent has been provided for a ‘15-minute vaccine break’ after an injection. Free car parking is also available.
The Covid-19 roll-out is aiding the recovery from the pandemic with deaths and new cases going down all over the Westcountry.
But Prime Minister Boris Johnson is not expected to make an announcement about possible loosening of restrictions until later this month. He is keen to move with caution to avoid another spike in cases.
