St John’s church in Wellington is the venue for a lively art and entertainments event, Love in the House!.
The fun evening will raise money for two charities, Christian Aid and ARC. The event is at the end of Christian Aid Week – this year money raised during the week will support and protect expectant mothers in Sierra Leone. Arc – formerly Taunton Association for the Homeless – helps homeless people in the area.
Local artists are busy finishing their pieces in time to be put up around the church, which will also have a dragonfly art installation in place, turning the church into a unique art gallery.
Love in the House! on Saturday, May 18, also includes a variety performance at 7.30pm – doors open 7pm. Performances include everything from spoken word to choral and the Ukes of Wellington, the town’s own ukulele band.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at Cards & Co in South Street and through local churches – some may be available on the night. The £5 ticket price also includes a drink – all proceeds go to the charities.
