THE Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, working with Somerset Partnership NHS Trust, has launched Lister Link – a new car in the Wivey Link fleet to serve patients registered at the recently closed Milverton Surgery who now need to visit Lister House Surgery in Wiveliscombe for appointments and medicines.
The car, a Peugeot Partner, is already adapted for wheelchair access and easily recognised with ‘Lister Link’ adorning both sides of the car, along with Somerset Partnership’s logos and Wivey Link’s name.
Patients who need to get to Lister House Surgery should phone Wivey Link on 01984 624666 between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday, as soon as they have been given their appointment, to book their travel.
Individuals who have a bus pass will receive a concession on their fare. Patients will also have to register and pay an annual fee to use the service.
Patients can also have their prescriptions delivered free of charge by a Wivey Link driver following the same procedure as for doctor appointments. Alternatively, patients can visit the Community Rooms in Milverton on Monday mornings or Thursday afternoons, where their prescription will be waiting for them.
Wiveliscombe Area Partnership and Somerset Partnership say they have worked hard to make it possible for patients from the wider Milverton area, such as Halse, Fitzhead and outlying villages in between, not to be disadvantaged by the closure of Milverton surgery.
