WEST Buckland Fete was a big success, raising nearly £3,000.

Rachel Lane, in her first year as chairman of the fete committee, said: “We were a little worried because there was rain in the morning.

“But by the time the fete got under way it was fine. We are very pleased with how things went.

“Numbers who attended were slightly up on last year and we raised more money than the previous year.”
