VISITORS to Wellington Monument are being warned to beware thieves after a car was targeted.
A dog walker who did not want to be named said someone tried to ‘gouge’ out the driver’s side lock of her Toyota Yaris Verso, possibly with a screwdriver or penknife.
She arrived at the beauty spot at about 11.15am when five or six cars were there and left at about 12.30pm when ten or 11 vehicles were at the site but does not know if any of them were targeted.
The woman, from Sampford Moor, said she had nothing of value in the car.
She added that her car was broken into twice about three years ago when its windows and wing mirrors were smashed.
