CHILDREN from Rockwell Green Primary School met war veteran Mark Newton at the cemetery in the village last week as he continued his journey to visit all the war graves and war memorials in Britain.

Mark has been travelling for 950 days so far, has covered 17,773.06 miles and raised £55,946.88 for charities.

He met the Year 6 children from school after headteacher Morwenna Dunstan saw him in Tesco and spoke to him about his journey.

Pupils place flowers on all the war graves every month, funded by the Royal British Legion.

Supply teacher Tom Doyle happened to be in the right place at the right time and came to school with

a cornet in his car, immediately

offering to place Last Post at the cemetery.
