SHEPPY'S Cider Farm is set to host a wassailing event to welcome the new year and encourage a good harvest.

The ceremony will feature hot cider, dancing, chanting food and fire in the cider farm's orchard.

Wassailing is a tradition dating to medieval times, and taking its name from the Anglo Saxon term for 'good health.'

It continues across England's cider making regions where wassailers gather in orchards to drink and sing to a prosperous harvest.

Sheppy's annual wassail is set to take place on January 26.
