HUNDREDS of music fans have been queueing to buy tickets for Wellington’s micro-festival Welliestock, being held this summer.

Fans lined up for free children’s and adult tickets at clothes shop Mad Dog from Monday last week and festival organiser Huw Weston said the event was close to selling out within just seven days.

Huw was delighted people have been getting behind the fifth annual festival, this year being held for the first time at Court Fields School in Mantle Street.

He said: “We work hard through the year to get sponsors allowing us to keep ticket prices low – just £13 for adults and free for under-16s.”

This year’s event on Saturday, June 30, will feature 19 bands on two stages and was launched with a music night at The Vintage in Fore Street. That featured four of the bands who will be playing at Welliestock – Kaizers from Torquay, who have been gaining a lot of attention on BBC Radio, and local bands Gigface, up-and-coming British country stars Square One and festival favourites FILTA.
