Hello children! I hope you’re having a good week.
On Thursday I finished school and it’s now the summer holidays! Mum and dad threw a party in the garden for me and Toby. We had a barbecue, with sausages, burgers and chips – it was super yummy! We played garden games like badminton and skipping, and then we toasted marshmallows. Toby and I put up a tent and camped outside in the garden overnight!
On Friday Toby and I woke up early because it was bright outside. We fried bacon on a camping stove and had bacon sandwiches and ketchup. In the morning we went on a bike ride with our mums and dads – it was really tiring and quite hot so we had lots of water and snack breaks. We came home in the evening and watched a film. I read my book before bed and fell asleep really quickly – what a busy day!
On Saturday I decided I wanted to learn how to make bread. I have never made it before and it was quite difficult. First you have to mix flour, water, yeast and salt until it forms a dough. Then you have to ‘knead’ it – rolling the dough in your hands to help make the bread rise. After that you have to leave the dough in a warm place so it gets bigger – I left mine in the airing cupboard! Then you bake it in the oven and it tastes amazing! What a busy day of baking!
On Sunday I went shopping with mum. I don’t usually like clothes shopping but I need new clothes for summer because I have grown. I got new shorts, T-shirts and swimming trunks for when the weather gets really hot! Mum and I went out for lunch, and looked in a few book shops before we left. At home, I helped dad make dinner – he was making Mexican food. We had enchiladas, which are like wraps with rice, beans and cheese, all baked in the oven! Yummy!
On Monday I spent the morning playing Fifa with Toby. Mum got annoyed because I had been playing video games for hours and she wanted me to do some chores. I hung the washing out, washed up the dishes and mowed the lawn. She was very impressed. The last job I had to do was wash the car. That was actually a lot of fun! Toby came and helped me, and we spent most of the time having a water fight! The car still got cleaned but Toby and I were soaked, too!
On Tuesday I read my book for a while and it made me want to write my own stories. I don’t like books with loads of words, so mum suggested I make my own comics. I don’t know much about comics but dad said they’re picture books with some words describing what’s going on. I started coming up with ideas for my own superhero comics and I did some drawings. I didn’t quite get to finish, because we went round to Toby’s house for tea, but I hope I will do more next week!
Have a good week kids!
