WELLINGTON Carnival will have not one but two Carnival Queens this year.
The judges at the annual Carnival Queen and Princess pageant could not separate Christine Rogers and Lorraine Faber for the title.
Four Carnival Princesses were also chosen at the event at Wellington Rugby Club on Sunday – Jenna Faber, Olivia Millett, Casey Millett and Nikita Faber.
Co-organiser Dawn Odgers said: “Yet again this was a fabulous event and the people of Wellington should be proud of the girls chosen to represent the town, not only in Wellington but many other towns as well.”
In addition to their usual royal duties, the girls will be required to be involved with fundraising initiatives, as well as raising the profile of carnival. Organiser Louise Brierley said: “We really appreciate the support of Caroline at the rugby club, our compare Angie Filler, our independent judges, town mayor Gary James and his wife Birgit, as well as the professional photography provided by Caroline and Pete of Unwin Photography.
“All the entrants went home with amazing professional portrait photographs on the day.”
Louise said thanks must also be given to the 2016 Queen, Melissa Knell, and Princesses Jasmine Coombes and Jenna Faber, who have been a pleasure to work with, representing Wellington at other towns and at local events.
Wellington Carnival is on Saturday, September 30.
