WELLINGTON’s MP has praised the Queen’s “remarkable life of selfless dedication” following her death at the age of 96 yesterday.
Rebecca Pow, Member of Parliament for Taunton Deane, said: “I would like to pay tribute to the remarkable life of selfless dedication to duty of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and to send thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family at this sad time.
“As our longest serving Monarch, she has been a steadfast and resolute presence through ever changing times; she has resonated strength, honour, dignity, warmth and understanding in all her duties. I know I speak for so many across Taunton Deane who are deeply saddened when I say she has touched our hearts, bringing comfort and guidance when it is most needed.
“As a nation we have been truly fortunate to have had such a Head of State and I give thanks for this exceptional life devoted to the service of our nation and the wider Commonwealth. We will each have our own memories of Queen Elizabeth and what she meant to us, and she leaves a legacy that will be a treasured part of our history.
“God Save the King.”
