THE people of Wellington paused for quiet reflection at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to mark Armistice Day on Saturday.
Town Mayor Cllr Gary James, with the president of the Royal British Legion Wellington branch Michael Rose, led town councillors, officers, representatives of the RBL and Wellington School Combined Cadet Force in procession from the town council offices to the town centre.
The Last Post played on a bugle marked the beginning of the silence and afterwards the Two Minute Silence Reveille was played.
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918, signalling the end of the First World War.
