WELLINGTON School students celebrated personal bests as GCSE results went live this morning (August 21).
Numerous Year 11 students achieved eight or more Grades 9-8, with some achieving all Grade 9 scores. More than a third of students achieved grades 9 to 7, and all results were reportedly “significantly above national grade averages.”
In addition to their GCSEs, several students also achieved A grades in the level 3 Additional Maths qualification with a further six being awarded the top distinction grade in the level 2 Additional Maths qualification. One Year 11 student also sat a Higher Project Qualification and was awarded an A grade.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Success at Wellington is far beyond an overall percentage score. It’s why great attention is paid on value added – the difference to each child’s unique starting point - and why they are proudly not in league tables.
“With the focus on each individual at Wellington, each result becomes ever more remarkable, alongside the plethora of other achievements and experiences that Year 11 students have engaged with, outside of the classic academic sphere.”
Wellington School’s Head, Alex Battison commented: “Off the back of another impressive set of A Level results where we expect a remarkable 100% of students to have accessed their first or second choice destinations, these incredible Year 11 students have given themselves, and the whole community, another reason to be incredibly proud.

“Not only are we excited for these students to enter our pioneering Sixth Form programme, but we are grateful for the legacy they continue to build here: one where it is cool to learn, be kind and dream big, and where self-esteem and purpose is built through a superb array of opportunities, inspirational staff and dedicated parental support.”
