After two false starts Lidl's new Wellington store is set to open this Thursday, April 6. Ahead of the opening speculation is mounting as to the contents of Lidl's famous middle aisle.

The middle of Lidl is renowned for its bargain prices across an eclectic range of products. Previous offers have included a plasma cutter retailing at £79.99 and a Wonder Woman bra for £6.99.

When the new store opens on Thursday it is expected the store's middle aisle will play host to the supermarket's national Gardening Event.

The garden supplies went on sale on March 30, sporting such bargains as an expanding wood trellis for £4.99 and a solar powered animal repeller for £14.99.

The range was then replaced by some Easter treats and 'deluxe' wines, but it set to return to shelves from Thursday. Products billed to be on sale include a heritage gardening incinerator with an 80 Litre capacity for £19.99 and a Buddha house ornament retailing at £9.99.

The event will also see a number of plants on sale, including a Buxus Ball for £9.99 and a mini rose for £2.79.

But buyers should beware, no two Lidl middles are the same, as particular products and stock quantities can vary across stores, and once they're gone, they're gone.

The German supermarket giant's Wellington store opens as the chain was named the fastest growing supermarket in the UK, after it grabbed 7 per cent of market share.

Confirming the April 6 opening date, Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Suzannah Clemo, said: “We have received overwhelming support from the local community and are therefore thrilled to be opening the doors to our new store.

"With people continuing to tighten their belts, we’re in the best possible position to help shoppers make big savings. Whether it is fresh produce, staple shopping list items or a must-have product from the Middle of Lidl, customers can be sure that they will be getting the best value when they shop at Lidl.”
