FRENCH horn player and former Royal Marines musician Steve Herbert, under the auspices of his company Once Loved Musical Items, is hosting a Symphonic Wind Band Day next month at Wellington School.

More than 70 experienced musicians from far and wide will be attending Steve’s second wind band event where they will be coached and directed through new and challenging pieces.

The event is on Saturday, February 8, in The Great Hall at the school under the baton of Duncan Stubbs, former principal director of music RAF.

It will end with a 30-minute ‘concert’ when the band will play through some of the pieces they have worked on during the day. Everyone is invited to the free concert, which starts at 4pm.

Many of the musicians attending have performed at prestigious events, on television and for Royalty. They have a wealth of knowledge and stories to tell, and will be available to talk with from 3.45pm.

Musical instruments, accessories and sheet music will be on offer from Taunton music shop Note-Orious, local composer and arranger Colin Dance (Dance Is With Music), Lucy Annetts (LA Music and repairer) and Once Loved Musical Items.

Coffee and tea will also be available at a small charge. For more details see Steve’s website www.oncelovedmusicalitems.co.uk
