Wellington & Taunton Young Farmers Club had many reasons to celebrate following the Somerset Federation’s annual meeting.
The local Young Farmers club, which has 25 members, was thrilled to receive the Barclays Bank Perpetual Challenge Shield awarded to the club making the most charity donations in 2018-19.
Over the year, the club has given £5,650 to Children’s Hospice South West, Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, Get Home Safe and Maggies.
Somerset YFC is a charitable organisation with 23 clubs and about 950 members, and raised £27,054 for local charities.
Individual club members were also awarded with trophies on the night. Chloe Parris won the Jerry White Special Recognition award, Georgia Manning the 4 H Participation Award for Outstanding Somerset Young Farmer, and Nicola Palfrey the award for Unsung Hero.
The club meets on the first Thursday of the month at 8pm at The World’s End, Bradford-on-Tone, and welcomes anyone who would like to go along and get involved.
