WELLINGTON Youth Centre and Cafe Random at Wiveliscombe are among 34 clubs sharing more than £105,000 in grants from Somerset County Council’s Youth and Community Service.
The Wellington centre will be receiving £3,500 and Wiveliscombe £2,700.
The grants will support projects across the county to help run popular sessions. They are matched by more than £287,000 in locally raised funding and hundreds of hours in volunteers’ time.
Cabinet member for Children and Young People, Cllr Frances Nicholson, said: “Provision for our young people is incredibly important so I am really pleased we are able to provide these grants which, combined with money raised by local communities, ensure the clubs are sustainable.
“Central, of course, to ensuring there is good support for young people is the dedicated hard work of the volunteers – without whom there would be no youth clubs.”
