WELLINGTON Bowling Club have an impressive 11 outdoor bowling competitions running this summer.

Outdoor competition secretary Janet Moore has done a wonderful job to make it possible for all club members to enter in order to try to get through to the finals in September. There are eight singles competitions and three pairs competitions.

At the weekend, Wendy Scott and Darren Sparks played against Pauline Wadham and Cliff Trott to see which pair would go through to the quarter finals of the Amy Stanton Mixed Pairs. It was a very close match and after ten ends there was nothing between them - they held 10 shots each.

The turning point came in the 14th end when Pauline and Cliff collected a terrific six shots. That gave them the lead and soon after that , the match, 25 - 16.

The finals will take place over the weekend of 13th and 14th September.
