IN this season of awards Wellington 1st XI’s wicketkeeper in 2016 – their overseas player Zandre Swartz – has been crowned the West of England Premier League’s Wicketkeeping Award Winner.

Based on having taken 35 dismissals behind the sticks comprising 23 catches and 12 stumpings this was the best return for any keeper in the whole league which covers Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and not just the Somerset Division in which Wellington played.

It follows that Zandre has also broken the club’s own 1st XI keeping record too.

This achievement will be celebrated at the League’s Dinner and Awards Event which takes place in Bristol on Friday, November 11.
