WELLINGTON Cricket Club’s three teams in the Somerset League in 2018 have received their fixtures for next season, writes David Derrick.

Taunton St Andrews CC’s 2nd XI at home will provide the Red and Blacks 1st XI with the opposition for their first game at this level in six seasons as they open their Premier Division campaign on Saturday, May 5.

Other notable match dates are Saturday, June 9, and Saturday, August 11,when the two local derbies on the calendar take place – a visit to Appley to take on Ashbrittle and then the return game at Courtland Road.

The season will end with a visit to Temple Cloud on Saturday, September 1.

 The 2nd XI will travel to Huntspill and District to open proceedings in Division Four and will end at home to Peasedown St John on the first day of September while the 3rd XI, in Division Seven South, begin at Broadway and Horton 2nd XI and close out their campaign away to Lydford 2nd XI at the start of September.

Pre-season matches are all in place and will give all players a chance to hone their game leading into the SCL campaign.

Games with North Curry, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Lympsham and Belvedere, Minehead, Kilve and Sidmouth are on offer between 14th April 14 and April 29.
