WITH only four matches remaining, Wellington are in danger of being relegated from the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League.

But the fight to avoid the drop is so fierce that even Minehead, in second place, are not safe.

Only 37 points separate the Seasiders and bottom team Taunton Deane, with Wellington now lying fourth from bottom after losing by eight wickets to struggling Street over the weekend.

Wellington’s form has been so unpredictable this season that you can bet on them beating fifth-placed Bridgwater at home this coming Saturday.

Wellington scored 165 all out at Street - which was never enough to trouble the home side who chalked up their sixth win of the season, the same number of victories as the visitors.

Runaway leaders Frome, who lost to Wellington earlier this season, are now 67 points clear at the top after gaining 12 victories in 14 matches.

Wellington 2nd XI are away to Wedmore in Division Five of the Monmouth Scientific Somerset League while Wellington 3rd XI are home to Yeovil in Division Seven South.

Ashbrittle will be looking to maintain their bid to win the first division in the West Somerset League when they play away to Matt Bulbeck’s North Curry.

The ex-Somerset player has been in fine form with the bat but so has Ashbrittle all-rounder Andy Hill who smashed 200 against leaders West Monkton over the weekend, following his 107 not out the previous week against Bridgetown.

Ashbrittle trail Monkton, who play away to Bagborough, by 31 points but have two crucial games in hand.

Second placed Wiveliscombe, who lost by 48 runs against Bishops Hull over the weekend, are home to Bridgetown who are lying fourth. Wivey are only nine points behind Monkton - and also have a game in hand.
