FOUR of Wellington Cricket Club’s youth players have progressed in the recent county cricket trials, held in The Centre of Excellence, at Somerset’s County Ground in Taunton.

Court Fields School students Jacob Hurry, who excelled as a wicket keeper / batsman in both the U11 and U13 team, and Tom Shannon, who was a mainstay of the U13 bowling attack, will go on to further district trials, to select next year’s county teams.

Joining them will be Wellington School pupil Marcia Reah, who was a match for any of her age group in the U11 bowling department, and Olly Hunt, son of Rob Hunt, of Wellington Self Storage, the club’s main sponsor, who contributed with bat and ball in most games, again playing above his age group most weekends.

This is a fine effort and paints a rosy outlook for the future of the club.
