WELLINGTON gained their second away win of the season in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League when they beat Street 2-1 in midweek.
However, they had to come from behind to take all three points - thanks to goals in two second-half minutes from Josh Baker and James De Selincourt.
With chairman Mike Hall again in charge following the recent departure of manager Josh Stunell, the Tangerines made one change from last weekend – De Selincourt coming in for Miles Quick.
They were on the back foot for most of the first half with Street hitting the woodwork twice and also seeing a ‘goal’ ruled out for handball.
Wellington kept it goalless until half-time, only for the hosts to take the lead four minutes after the restart when a corner was headed home with the visitors appealing, in vain, that keeper Jack McAndrews had been fouled.
Wellington picked up their game and stunned Street with a quickfire double strike around the hour mark, both created by wide man Alfie Slough.
First, he crossed for Baker to produce a clinical finish and, almost immediately, Slough found De Selincourt who coolly stroked the ball past keeper Liam Kingston.
That was the signal for Street to throw everything at Wellington but the well-organised visitors defended valiantly.
It was a fine team performance but special mention for two players who came on as sub – Daniel Conway, who only just turned 16, and Ryan Brereton, still getting back to full fitness after suffering a badly broken leg on the same ground 18 months earlier.
Wellington: Jack McAndrews, Jack Alcock, Tom Stone, Jake Haggerty, Nathan Byrne, Cris Amponsah, Oscar Albano, Glen Wright, James De Selincourt, Alfie Slough, Josh Baker. Substitutes: Daniel Conway, Ryan Brereton (used); Josh Lukins, Miles Quick, Rob Hall (not used).
Wellington are home to third-placed Paulton Rovers on Saturday, September 27 (3p.m.).
