IN A thrilling and fiercely contested encounter, Wellington Wanderers AFC Under 11s faced off against Middlezoy Rovers in what proved to be one of their finest performances to date.
The Wanderers began the match slowly, struggling to find their rhythm against a well-organised Middlezoy side. However, once they settled, their confidence grew and the team began to string together some beautiful passing sequences that lit up the pitch. The midfield worked tirelessly to link play, and the forwards showed great movement and composure in front of goal. Several well-taken goals punctuated the match, each one a testament to the team’s growing technical ability and understanding of the game.
But it wasn’t just flair on display—Wanderers matched their creativity with grit and determination, battling hard to counter Middlezoy’s physicality and pace. Defensively, the team stood strong, with some fantastic goalkeeping keeping the scoreline in check during key moments. What truly stood out was the unity and spirit among the Wanderers. Every player gave their all, supporting one another and showing that teamwork always triumphs over individual brilliance. It was a joy to watch—a match full of heart, skill, and sportsmanship.
The team would like to say a huge thank you to Roadchef for their continued support as shirt sponsor, and also to R&M Motor for providing the match balls.
*The Under 11s are among a number of the Wellington club’s youth teams which play in the Taunton & District Youth Football League.
There is also an Under 18 side which has made a good start to their season in South Division of the Western Counties Floodlit Youth League .
It also has a number of Wilcats’ teams which are competing on a regular basis on Saturdays in the Somerset Girls League.
