WELLINGTON have a top of the table match at home to Hengrove Athletic in Division One of the Toolstation League on Saturday (3.00), writes Barry Knott.

Leaders Wellington are now four points clear of Hengrove following their 2-0 home win over Warminster Town over the weekend.

“I was disappointed with our first half performance against Warminster – we should have been five or six up at half time,” said Jones.

“But I’ll give the lads their due. They played far better in the second half despite having Sam Towler sent off for two bookable offences.”

“We were far too casual in the first half and we missed some glorious chances.”

Hengrove warmed up for Saturday’s crucial game with a 3-1 home win at home to Chippenham Park.

“Hengrove are a good side – they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season,” added Jones.

“They are a strong side and they will provide us with a big test. At the moment the main thing is that we’re creating chances which can only be a good thing. I would be very worried if we weren’t.”

Wellington, who will be chasing a double, having won 3-2 at Hengrove early in the second, will be without goalkeeper Connor Sidley-Adams who is away for the weekend.

Sidley-Adams, who turned down the chance to join Clevedon Town last week, is away for the weekend, will be replaced in goal by Mitch Woodgate, who came on as an outfield player in the victory over Warmister.

“Connor is a confident lad and a good goalkeeper, but Mitch is a good replacement. He played in goal for us last season,” said Jones.

Wellington Reserves, who lost 4-0 away to Alphington Reserves on Saturday, have no match in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League this weekend.

Hemyock, beaten 2-0 at home by Elmore Reserves in Division Six, are home to Riviera United in the Devon Intermediate Cup while top of the table Wellington Thirds, 4-2 home winners against Cheriton Fitzpaine in Division Seven, are away to Ilminster Town Reserves.
